The medallion has a gold filled surmount with two swans on either side with acanthus leaf motif wings. The rare jewel dates to the 18th to 19th Century. The bronze medallion with the neoclassical image of the angel riding the chariot may be quite early. It is exquisite with very fine details throughout and beautiful modeling of the angel's face and body. The horses are in a rearing pose as if taking off or landing. This is a gorgeous neoclassical jewel. The surmount is exquisite with the wonderful swan birds with acanthus leaf wings. These images are very typical of the Gustavian period, circa 1780. The surmount is fully three dimensional with the images on both sides. The medallion is on a swivel mechanism.
